Opportunities to get involved in Participatory Budgeting

The Power of Youth - Young People Setting Local Priorities

As part of our commitment to Participatory Budgeting, and to celebrate 2018 being the Year of Young People, £40,000 has been set aside for youth work projects across Angus.

Council staff have been working with a representative group of young people from across Angus to fully co-design a process for youth provision that is young people friendly. So they want to hear your ideas and what difference they will make to young people in Angus.

Bids for funding are now being invited with £10,000 available for each locality area - Arbroath and area; Forfar and Kirriemuir; Brechin and Montrose; and Carnoustie, Monifieth and Sidlaw.

Any youth work providers and youth group in Angus can apply for funding. Project bids should be for a minimum of £1000 and maximum of £5000. Groups/organisations can submit more than one project bid.

The closing date for applications is Friday 31 August.

Initial bids will be reviewed by a local steering group of young people and the council's communities staff to ensure the meet the criteria.

Young people aged from S1 to 18 years will then be asked to vote for their favourite projects. Voting will go live from 15 to 25 September via the Young Scot website. Voting will close on 26 September and funding will be announced at an event on Thursday 27 September.
