Police in Edinburgh and the City of Edinburgh Council are inviting people to vote for projects designed to create a city free from Islamophobia.

'Shared Vision - Your Decision' is an Edinburgh based initiative which enables local people to decide how public money is spent in eradicating Islamophobia and associated prejudice behaviour. A voting event takes place on Saturday the 28th January in Edinburgh (see details below) and it is also possible to vote online and in public libraries.

The participatory budgeting initiative is based on the understanding that Islamophobic behaviour also affects other faith communities and has included projects which also work with these communities. Funding has come from Police Scotland, City of Edinburgh Council and the Scottish Government's Community Choices fund.

Police Scotland, the City of Edinburgh Council and The Scottish Government have made a total of £40,000 available as part of their ongoing commitment to addressing Islamophobia across Edinburgh.

Between 10 November and 12 December individuals and groups submitted applications to receive up to £5,000 worth of funding.

How do you vote for a project?

Come and meet the projects! It's time for you to decide who gets a share of £40k at the Shared Vision Your Decision vote.

Voting takes place on Saturday 28th January 2017 from 1.30pm-3.30pm at Methodist Church Hall, 25 Nicholson Square, Edinburgh, EH8 9BX (see map).

Alternatively you can vote online (a link will be provided on Police Scotland's website in due course) or at your local Edinburgh library.
