PB Funding Platform Available

Young Scot would like to a highlight a terrific opportunity available around the inclusion of young people in the participatory budgeting process.
Through the use of the Young Scot National Entitlement Card, our bespoke e-voting digital platform and our wider Young Scot social/digital platforms we are able to provide an enhanced opportunity to engage with young people in local areas and inform them of the opportunity to take part.
The Community Choices Fund is now open and focuses on funding participatory budgeting projects in Scotland. The closing date for applications is midnight 21 July 2017.
Our aim is to ensure that young people are empowered and included within this innovative and collaborative approach to public funding.
We would be keen to work in partnership with you and enhance any application you may be submitting.
The Young Scot digital platform and e-voting tool has been used extensively for Scottish Youth Parliament e-voting and adapted for participatory budgeting (PB). This has a number of benefits:
- It allows young people to participate in the PB exercise remotely, from any device as long as they have the URL and internet access. It therefore enables more young people participate and influence the outcome of the exercise.
- It provides a means to limit participation to young people aged 11 to 25 years old because a young person’s use of the system is dependent upon them entering their Young Scot National Entitlement Card number. This adds rigour to the decision making, ensuring only young people entitled to vote take part. It also prevents young people voting more than once.
- The system allows for temporary numbers for those without cards and can be used extensively in schools.
