COSLA are looking for a Participatory Budgeting Development Manager to support the Joint PB framework with Scottish Government to work towards the 1% of local authority budgets being subject to PB by 2021.

The post holder will work with all local authorities and a variety of government agencies and public bodies where there is a possibility of joint participatory budgeting work. The post is a fixed term one likely to last for up to 24 months. With other team members a role will be to help inform the development and promotion of non-statutory guidance in this area.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-starting individual to continue with and to help shape the local government approach to mainstream Participatory Budgeting and Participatory Democracy across Scotland. Participatory budgeting is recognised internationally as a way for local people to have a direct say in how public funds can be used to address local needs and priorities. It is an important resource that currently builds on the wider development of participatory democracy at a time when it faces significant challenges.
