Pollok PB event success sees young people decide on £200k

PB hit the big screen in Glasgow as the young people of Pollok decided how £200,000 was spent using participatory budgeting.

Held at the Silverburn Cineworld, and using the Young Scot PB voting software, the event saw young people vote on the projects important to them. The PB processes was organised by a citizen's panel of young people, with support from SWAMP, a local community development trust.

Glasgow City Council Leader Susan Aitken was there on the day and wrote up here reflections, noting that:

“But what was really remarkable is that these guys were blazing a trail, setting in motion an exciting shift in power which has the potential to change how we do a lot of our politics in Scotland. “
