Our Green Participatory Budgeting Journey to Europe
/Francesca Lynch from PB Scotland shares her thoughts as green PB continues to progress.
I still can’t believe that I’ve now been working on the Green PB programme at SCDC for almost a year. And what a year it’s been, full of new relationships, networks and learning as well as great developments and discussions around Green PB.
It certainly seems that Green PB is here to stay, and I couldn’t be more delighted.
Not only are there now two flagship exemplars of Green PB in Scotland under way (Dundee City Council, and Just Transitions North East) but we are also working on an international scale and soon to be host to a European Green PB Caravan over two days in November (16th & 17th)
The caravan will see a range of sessions provided (both in-person and online) which are designed to raise awareness, share learning and continue to explore Green PB and its links to the Climate Change agenda. It really will be a great round-up of our work so far showing the reach we have achieved and the fantastic relationships that we have been able to develop together this year.
As well as providing a fantastic opportunity for us to continue to raise awareness and explore Green PB as a Nation, the caravan will also see our collective views contributing towards future recommendations around Green PB, Climate Change and participatory Democracy at an international level.
Our experience and views will be presented to the International Observatory on Participatory Democracy in December along with those of our European partner countries of Portugal, Spain and France.
All in all, it really has been a fantastic year so far for the Green PB programme and the Caravan is a great way to celebrate our journey with everyone here in Scotland and beyond.
I sincerely hope that everyone reading this joins-in by promoting and attending one or more of the sessions and continues with us on our national Green PB learning Journey.
