National PB Strategic Group publishes 2022/23 annual report
/The National Participatory Budgeting Strategic Group, which was established to help guide the strategic direction for PB in Scotland, has published its annual report for 2022/23.
The report details the activity of the group and the overall development of PB activity during the year. It includes information across a range of activity areas, including PB and climate justice, PB in education, and developing the understanding and evidence of PB across Scotland.
It also outlines activity related to current policy environment, including the Community Empowerment Act Review, the 1% framework agreement, community wealth building and the Local Governance Review.
The paper also summarises discussions relating to expanding the group’s remit from 2024 to “provide oversight and scrutiny of the use of participatory methods and innovations, to ensure that the public are involved in decisions that affect them, whilst maintaining the importance of PB and using the lessons from PB and applying them to other democratic innovations.”
