National PB Strategic Group publishes annual report

The National Participatory Budgeting Strategic Group, which was established to help guide the strategic direction for PB in Scotland, has published its annual report for 2021/22.

The report details the activity of the group and the overall development of PB activity during the year. It includes information on activity across the group’s key overarching themes, which were developed as part of the National PB Framework published in 2021:

  • Culture shift, Leadership and Long Term Thinking;

  • Cross-cutting Priorities (Climate Justice);

  • Health and Wellbeing;

  • Education;

  • Housing and Homelessness

The report highlights a range of activity, including the development of Green PB, activity from public bodies such as local councils, Police Scotland and others.

The report concludes:

“But as we are faced with these new challenges, such as the cost of living crisis, the war in Ukraine and global climate crises, the Group continue to raise the profile of PB as an opportunity to advance participatory democracy. The Group, at its core, is committed to ensure that those least engaged but most impacted by these challenges have a direct and just say on the things that matter to them.”
