In January 2016, South Lanarkshire Council and partners organised PB events in four locations in South Lanarkshire which took place across two days.  The events allowed local people to decide how best to spend money on facilities and activities for young people. Councils giving more power to people

Communities will be able to vote on how councils spend money through a funding boost of nearly £500,000, Community Empowerment Minister Marco Biagi has announced.  Thirteen councils will receive a share of the participatory budgeting fund, which will give people the opportunity to decide where investment should be directed in their local community.

Evaluating Participatory Budgeting

 Public Agenda in the USA has released 15 key metrics for evaluation and a toolkit to provide common measures of success in participatory budgeting (PB). The North American PB Research Board, in collaboration with the USA based PB Project helped to develop these tools. The methodology used ‘will have universal application, even outside the USA and Canada’.

Applications now open for sixth year of £eith Decides:

The application period for this year's £eith Decides is open from 11am Saturday 24 October until 5pm Wednesday 18 November. Community projects in Leith are invited to apply for funding from a pot of more than £22,000 as part of one of the longest running participatory budgeting projects in the UK.
